Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell works as a journalist at NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has an undergraduate degree in English from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell joined KYW Radio and TV as a Philadelphia reporter in the year 1967. Mitchell joined CBS affiliate WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. She became a Washington general correspondent for NBC News two years later. She began covering the White House in 1981 and was named chief correspondent for the congressional office by 1988. Mitchell was appointed the Chief White House correspondent in 1992. As well as the chief foreign affairs Correspondent for NBC News. Mitchell was a panelist and presenter of the TV program Meet the Press. She was on the panel during the 1988 presidential debates with George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan a former chairman the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005, which was awarded by the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg the award in 2004 to recognize her efforts in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was a reporter at the White House first for NBC News between the years 1981-88, which was in the two years that Ronald Reagan served as president. She covered a wide range of notable stories, including arm control, budget tax reform as well as the Iran-contra scandal. Mitchell was frequently together with President Reagan to meetings with Mikhail Gorbachev and other world top leaders.
